Bixby is a virtual assistant developed by Samsung Electronics.
On March 20, 2017, Samsung announced a voice-powered digital assistant named "Bixby". Bixby was introduced alongside Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 during the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2017 event, which was held on March 29, 2017. Samsung officially launched Bixby a week before its launch but only made its first appearance during the event. Bixby can also be transferred to older Galaxy devices running Android Nougat.
Bixby represents a big reboot for S Voice, Samsung's voice assistant app introduced in 2012 with Galaxy S III.
In May 2017, Samsung announced that Bixby would come to the Family Hub 2.0 refrigerator line, making it the first non-mobile product to include virtual assistants.
In October 2017, Samsung announced the release of Bixby 2.0 during an annual developer conference in San Francisco. This new version will be launched across the company's connected product line, including smartphones, TVs and refrigerators. In addition, third parties will be allowed to develop apps for Bixby using Samsung Developer Kit.

Bixby comes with three sections, known as Bixby Voice, Bixby Vision and Bixby Home.
Bixby Voice
With Bixby Voice , users can trigger Bixby by calling it or long press Bixby button located below volume rocker. A while before the phone launches, the Bixby Button is reprogrammed and can be set to open applications or other assistants, such as Google Assistant. However, near the mobile release, this capability is removed with firmware updates, but can be mapped using third-party applications.
Bixby Vision
Bixby Vision is built into the camera app and can "see" what a person can see because basically augmented reality cameras can identify objects in real time, search for them on various services, and offer users to buy them if available. Bixby is also capable of translating texts, reading QR codes, and recognizing landmarks.
Bixby Home
Bixby Home can be found by swiping right on the home screen or making a brief emphasis on the Bixby Button. This is a list of vertically scrolled information that can interact with Bixby, for example, weather, fitness activities, and buttons to control their smart home gadgets.
Bixby supports multiple languages ​​including English, Korean and Chinese. It also supports contextual search and visual search.

Language and country availability
Samsung reported that Bixby will not operate on US versions of Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 when the device was first delivered to consumers on April 21, 2017. Samsung stated that Bixby's main features, including Vision, Home and Reminder, will be available with the global smartphone launch. Bixby Voice is intended to be available in the US on Galaxy S8 and S8 later that spring. However, the English version release was delayed because Samsung has problems getting Bixby to fully understand its language.
Until April 2018, Bixby is available in over 200 countries, but only in Korean, English, and Chinese (Mandarin). The Chinese version of Bixby is only available on devices officially sold in Mainland China. Bixby Korean was launched on May 1, 2017 (KST).
