Moneygami (also known as money-gami ) is a term that appears as a portmanteau of money and origami words. This refers to the formation of paper currency, such as the Indian rupee and the United States dollar, into works of art. This concept has been popularized by individuals such as Japanese pop artist Yosuke Hasegawa, whose work has been featured at the exhibition at Tadu Art Gallery, and his creation can serve as a cultural commentary on the value that materialistic society places on money. For example, one of Hasegawa's works involves the head of Chairman Mao Zedong folded in a cowboy hat with a double image, based on Andy Warhol's famous image of Elvis Presley.

The name is offensive to traditional origami, which is Japanese art of folding flat material, generally paper, into a figure that resembles various objects. Other examples of moneygami include folding paper money into clothing, like a dollar bill being a tie.
