In a biography, Lu wrote that his third eye was activated by Jade Pond Golden Mother in 1969, and followed instructions from Liao Ming Monk (from the Taoist Ching Zhen Sect) and the Three Mountains and Nine Marquis. The Three Mountains are said to represent the Dharmak? Yes (Buddha Vairocana) Sambhogakaya (Buddhist Locana), Nirmanakaya (Sakyamuni Buddha) while "Nine Marquis" represents a combination of Buddha and Bodhisattva, each corresponding to a different direction. They are named to be, Mahavairocana Buddha (Center), Akshobhya Buddha (East), Ratnasambhava Buddha (South), Amitabha Buddha (West), Amoghasiddhi Buddha (North), Samatabhadra Bodhisattva (Southeast), Manjusri Bodhisattva (South West), Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva (Northwest), Maitreya Bodhisattva in (Northeast).
He then actively practiced Taoism, Geomansi Sutrayana and Vajrayana Buddhism, in which he cited that mystical experience led him to search for twenty-one human teachers in Taoism, Sutra, and Tantra. In 1982, Lu and his small followers moved to the United States, settling in Washington state.
In addition, Lu is a prolific writer with more than two hundred and fifty-three (as of April 2016) Chinese books already printed. Teaching
Lu taught the Mahamudra method to attain Buddhahood. His teachings follow the traditional steps of Preliminary Practice, followed by Yoga Teachers, Gods of Yoga, Vajra Practice, and finally the Supreme Tantric Yoga. Lu's spiritual teachers include Liao Ming Monk, 16th Karmapa Rangjung Rigpe Dorje, Dezhung Rinpoche, and Tai Situ Rinpoche among others.
He described the state of enlightenment using the allegory of Padmakumara, the body of Amitabha Buddha transformation and his enlightened self.
With full knowledge of its origins, as the Supreme Whole Padmakumara of the Twin Twin Lotus Pool, which carries the command of the Amitabha Buddha, Grandmaster Lu is a true practitioner of Tantric Buddhism. Grandmaster Lu has a school of Ningma, Kagyu, Sakya and Gelug of Tibetan Buddhism and has achieved the highest results in these schools including the Great Perfection, Mahamudra, Lamdre, and Yamantaka Sadhana. After intense training and training over a fourteen-year period, he became a Master of extraordinary achievement in this discipline and attained the Perfect Enlightenment.
He states: I have practiced according to the True Buddha Tantra in the following order: Four Bases, Master Yoga, Personal Mother Yoga, Rescue Voda Treasure, Psychic Heat, Center, Five Chakra, unparalleled and Perfect Perfection and attained Buddha Sakti Bunga Terang.
Lu's teaching did not forbid the consumption of meat for his disciples. For monks and nuns, alcohol consumption is forbidden, while meat requires the liberation of bardo soul before it is consumed. In an interview with the Taiwanese media in 2010, he explained: "In Tantric Buddhism, we do not differentiate if a student wants to consume vegetables or meat.If a student wants to consume vegetables, we let him consume vegetables. If a student is unwilling to consume meat , it is comfort For those who are ordained (monks, nuns, etc.) if able to consume vegetables, then we always try our best to consume vegetables. If he can not consume vegetables, it is also convenience, also different, because there is a difference between Theravada and Tantric in Buddhism, the tantric teachers or monks should first give the food they consume to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and secondly they must also save the spirits of those they consume and cleanse their spirits into the pure lands or the more high.So for tantric buddhism, there is a way to change the spirit we consume to place or nature better for their kindness before we consume. However, for theravada buddhism, they emphasize asize we do not consume meat. But for tantra, because we have a method of salvation, we can consume meat. The most important teaching is that we do not have to witness slaughter or hear slaughter or slaughter animals for our wishes as guests. According to Buddha, this is known as "three cleaned meats" or 3 types of meat cleansed. "
In 2000, the Mogao caves had a new discovery in which the statues of White Maha Padmakumara were found, by chance according to Grandmaster Lu's claim of the existence of Padmakumara in 1970. One of the sacred books found in the Mogao caves contains names of the three thousand buddhas of the future and the first. a thousand buddhas in the lead were given the name "Buddha Bunga Terang", coincidentally matching Lu's claim on behalf of his buddhanya in 1982.
Lu was the first to hold a ceremony of Adharma Buddha and Mahottara Heruka (emanations of wrath or the other side of Adharma Buddha) on a large scale to benefit living beings. Before the first ceremony of 2015, there was no information about the Adharma Buddha spell or Mahottara Heruka. In Sutrayana, the Buddha's Adharma is called Samantabhadra Tathagata
Controversy
Master Hsuan Hua warned his students about Lu Sheng-yen's claims, bemoaning that many modern people have no wisdom, and ignore Lu by saying, "I do not know who this person is, I call him a demon." Regardless of the evil claims of other sects, Lu does not respond negatively when he explains that all religions must be respected because every creature has the nature of buddhas.
True Buddha School was criticized in 2007 by six Buddhist organizations in Malaysia. True Buddha School has sought to combat criticism made by the organization. The Tzu Chi Foundation retreats from a group of seven organizations that make such claims.
Lu made headlines during an investigation by the Washington State Public Disclosure Commission into his money donation to Governor Gary Locke, whom Lu hoped would run for the White House. Locke was acquitted of any error by the commission in 1998. Furthermore, this did not affect Locke in his search for confirmation as US Secretary of Commerce.
He was also sued, albeit unsuccessfully, in a civilian court by a former Malaysian immigrant pupil on charges of sexual offenses, while King County, Washington prosecutor refused to file charges for lack of evidence. The case was rejected by the High Court Judge of the King, Kathleen Learned, who cited constitutional issues. In this case S.H.C. v. Sheng-Yen Lu , the Washington Court of Appeals, Division 1, granted the Temple motion for the summary ruling, and the Court of Appeal then "affirmed [ed] the order which gives a summary summary of dismissal to the Shrine."
