Careers

Between 1976 and 1990, De La Fuente acquired 28 car franchises from Alfa Romeo, American Motors Company, Audi, Cadillac, Chrysler, Daihatsu, Dodge, GMC, Honda, and others. He also opened three banks, assisted living facilities in Los Angeles and Lemon Grove and eleven exchange locations in the United States and Mexico.

In 2004, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation issued an order prohibiting De La Fuente to participate in the FDIC insured agency. De La Fuente appealed and the 9th Circuit overturned half the order and suggested the FDIC to reconsider its phrase, stating that "the use of FIB De La Fuente as its personal piggy bank has shocked the healthy banking practices and laws that harm depositors, shareholders and the public. However, we are returning the matter to the Council for consideration, given this disposition, whether this remarkable sanction is still feasible. "

In November 2015, De La Fuente and the city of San Diego reached a settlement in a decade-long legal dispute over land use issues related to the 312-hectare area developed by De La Fuente at Otay Mesa.

Political campaign

2016 presidential campaign

De La Fuente runs a presidential campaign in the 2016 election. De La Fuente seeks a Democratic nomination during their preliminary presidential election. The De La Fuente campaign won no single or single delegate for the 2016 Democratic National Convention.

De La Fuente founded the American Delta Party and ran for party with his partner, Michael Steinberg, and was nominated as a presidential candidate from the Reform Party with voting access in Florida, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota and Mississippi. De La Fuente eventually received over 33,000 votes in the general election, earning 0.02% of the total popular vote. He failed to win votes. In the general election De La Fuente placed eighth overall, behind Republican Donald Trump, Democratic Hillary Clinton, Gary Johnson of Libertarian Party, Green Party Jill Stein, independent Evan McMullin, Darrell Palace of the Constitution Party, and Party for Socialism and Liberation of Gloria LaRiva.

On May 9, 2017, De La Fuente and Stein rejected their lawsuit against the State of Oklahoma. The lawsuit's focus was the country's high requirements for the petition, but was fired after Oklahoma reduced their requirements. In February 2018, De La Fuente will win two more court cases lessening the ballot access requirement in Virginia and Washington.

2016 Senate Campaign

On 20 June 2016, De La Fuente paid a $ 10,440 qualifying fee to run for the 2016 Senate Democratic nomination in Florida to decide on a Democratic candidate for the Senate seat occupied by Republic of Marco Rubio. He competed with Patrick Murphy, Alan Grayson, Pam Keith, and Reginald Luster for the nomination. Murphy won the nomination; De La Fuente is fourth from five candidates, receiving 60,606 votes (5.38% of the votes).

2017 New York City mayor's campaign

De La Fuente ran for Mayor of New York City at 2017 Mayoral election. After announcing his intention to enter the race, De La Fuente claimed private voting data showed he defeated Republican candidates Paul Massey and Michel Faulkner.

The nomination of De La Fuente faces a problem with the lack of shelter.

On March 28, De La Fuente participated in a debate organized by the New York State Reform Party (which is not affiliated with the United States Reform Party) along with five other major candidates (Kevin Coenen, Mike Tolkin, independent Bo). Dietl, Democrat challengers Sal Albanese and Republican Faulkner).

De La Fuente is meant to make homeless and affordable housing the main focus of the campaign.

During his campaign, De La Fuente received $ 600,000 in campaign loans from the New York City Campaign Finance Agency. By July 31, this meant that his campaign had received the second-largest number of campaigns in 2017 mayoral races, behind only Paul Massey, who had received $ 1,610,000.

After the suspension of both the campaigns of Michel Faulkner and Paul Massey, De La Fuente was the only remaining opponent to Nicole Malliotakis in the Republican Party. However, two Malliotakis supporters, with the blessing of his campaign, have objected to De La Fuente's signature petition. They argue that hundreds of De La Fuente's signatures were forged. On August 1, the New York City Electoral Council voted against De La Fuente and supported Malliotakist supporters (Bryan Jung and James Thompson), effectively ending De La Fuente's nomination for Republican nomination and leaving Malliotakis without a fight for nomination.

2018 Senate Campaign

On 26 February 2018 De La Fuente proposed to run for the 2018 Senate election in California under the Republican Party to overthrow the incumbent Dianne Feinstein, but failed on June 5th primers. He came in ninth place from field 35, collecting 131,890 votes for 2% of the total. In the primary system where only the top two who succeeded in reaching the last vote, this ended his nomination.

De La Fuente has also filed for the Republican primary preliminaries for the US Senate in Florida, Hawaii, Minnesota, Vermont, Washington, Wyoming, and Delaware. He said that he walked in many places "to prove how ludicrous the electoral process has become", although some commentators expressed doubt about the explanation.
